US Brew Passport — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how US Brew Passport (“we,” “our,” “the App”) collects, uses, and protects your information.

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide

• Name (or username)
• Email address
• Authentication credentials (handled securely by Firebase Authentication)
• Account verification status

B. Automatic Information

We may collect:

• Device type
• App version
• Anonymous usage and diagnostic data used to improve app performance and stability

C. Brewery Visit History

When you scan a brewery’s QR code, we store:

• Brewery visited
• Date/time of visit
• Your user ID (not personal details)

This is required to enforce the “once-per-year” reward rule.

D. Location Information (Optional)

US Brew Passport may request access to your device’s location only when you choose to use location-based features, such as:

• Viewing breweries near your current location
• Getting directions to a brewery using React Native Maps
• Opening your maps app (Google Maps, Apple Maps, etc.) with navigation
• Centering the map on your approximate location

We do not store your GPS location on our servers. All location usage happens locally on your device in real time. You may disable location permissions at any time, though some features may not work.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Verify your email address
• Track redeemed brewery rewards
• Provide optional map and directions features
• Improve app functionality
• Prevent misuse or fraud
• Manage subscriptions and verify premium access through the App Store

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell or share your personal information with breweries or third parties.

We may share limited non-personal data such as total visits or anonymous usage statistics.

US Brew Passport does not use personal data for advertising tracking, does not share user data with data brokers, and does not track users across other apps or websites.

4. Email Communication

You may receive emails for:

• Account creation / email verification
• Password reset
• Important account notifications

5. How QR Scan Data Is Used

QR scans only record:

• Brewery ID
• Timestamp
• Your user ID

We do not track your movement or physical travel history, except when you voluntarily use location-based features such as maps or directions.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard protections including:

• Encrypted authentication through Firebase
• Secure Firestore storage
• Encrypted connections (HTTPS)

7. Third-Party Services

US Brew Passport uses trusted third-party services including:

• Firebase Authentication
• Firestore Database
• Google Maps / Apple Maps (via device integration)
• React Native Maps

These providers have their own privacy policies.

8. Your Choices

• You may delete your account at any time
• You may request removal of your data
• You may disable location access at any time
• You may unsubscribe from optional emails

This app is not intended for anyone under 21 years old.
